951 Middle St Sullivans Island, SC 29482

Listing details for 951 Middle St, Sullivans Island, SC 29482 : This charming home where Charleston's harbor reaches to the Atlantic is at the exclusive West end of Sullivan's Island. Venerable Fort Moultrie is a block away, and Ft. Sumter seems in your "front yard." Their Revolutionary and Civil War roles palpable. Sleek ocean liners and the tiniest of sailboats pass lazily, while Charleston's unmistakable skyline (so sparkling at night) assure ever-changing scenery amongst delightful tranquility-- the essence here. A family-oriented home, 951 Middle has been guided by proven craftsmen, evolving from 19th C. Victorian cottage to tasteful comfort with today's conveniences. Unmistakable patina and romance of yesteryear remain aspects of the fascinating mix. Details abound from coffered ceilings and hand-crimped metal roof to intricate fireplace surrounds and marble slab showers. You will find much to beguile those drawn to stylish design executed well. The extra-spacious Master Suite (with "civilized" his and hers baths in Italian marbles, heart pine floors, French oak walls in his) enjoys the convenience of a Sitting Room while her bath on the view has a carpeted dressing area, multiple cabinets, large walk-in closet, and a mini office. Collectively, the Master Suite spaces compose the "western wing," privacy assured by the generous Living Room and open gourmet Kitchen/Dining areas separating them from the home's other 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths, laundry, etc. One notable dividend from careful restorations: the Living Room, Master Suite, Den, Kitchen/Dining area, and two of the other four bedrooms all (with the porch of course!) offer ocean views. A space puzzle solution pulled off deftly, aided by an extra-wide oceanfront homesite (128'). A spacious attic with cedar closet and 3 storage rooms in the detached garage (with "wine cave") solve storage needs. Varied outdoor spaces feature epe decking, heated 20' x 40' pool, palms-shaded gazebo, garden areas, and your boardwalk to quickly slip but 50' to a secluded beach for a swim. Pool parties, patio lunches, and cookouts just over the wild flowered dune are perfect here for family and friends. This charming retreat, including a lovely Guest Cottage, last appeared on the market 28 years ago. Shaded by five enormous live oaks with pines, palms, fig, myrtles, and magnolias, this picturesque home will be available but a short time. And then it will be gone againfor generations. Why? Because this character-filled home in the residential (ultra-quiet) quadrant of Sullivans is at the pinnacle of many beauties we have seen. It can rival or best with spirit and panache, not to mention location, any in memory. For some fortunate family, it soon will be a long, loving destination. It will behome.
